Big Spring Scenic Backway

Wyoming
The Big Spring Scenic Backway is a longer route from Kemmerer to Cokeville, Wyoming, traveling north through a wide river valley up into the Bridger National Forest through the Tunp Mountains before heading back south toward Cokeville.

Along this historical route, which was once part of the Oregon Trail, you'll find abandoned homesteads from the western migration of the 19th century.

Camping


Once you pass into the National Forest (approximately 30 miles) you can camp anywhere, unless otherwise posted. Just beyond the forest boundary is Hams Fork Campground, a forest service campground.

Water


You will be traveling along the Hams Fork River for about 40 miles to Hams Fork Campground, which has potable water.

Food


Food is available in Kemmerer and Cokeville.
